“向东看”是一个十分睿智的选择——著名艺术家杜大恺寄语“2021青岛国际当代艺术展”

前言

首届青岛国际当代艺术展（以下简称“艺术展”）举办于2017年。迄今为止，该艺术展已举办了三届，2021年是第四届。自这一届始，艺术展主办方确定了“向东看”的办展方向，即受邀参展的艺术家以来自世界东方的艺术家为主。这是一个十分睿智的选择。因为这一选择，本届艺术展具有鲜明的独特性，从而区别于其他国际展。

本届艺术展，除中国的艺术家以外，还有韩国、日本、新加坡、马来西亚、泰国、缅甸、尼泊尔、马尔代夫、美国、澳大利亚等国家和地区的艺术家受邀参展。国内参展艺术家的作品有183件，海外参展艺术家的作品有45件，共计228件。众多的参展作品，丰富多彩的艺术风格，呈现出不同国家和地区的自然风貌和社会风情，决定了本届艺术展的不同凡响。本届艺术展的成功举办，昭示着新冠肺炎疫情未能泯灭人们的创作激情，人们理性而乐观地面对灾难的意志是不可战胜的。

成就斐然的人物，声名远扬的企业，独树一帜的节日，不可复制的自然与人力资源，包括类如青岛国际当代艺术展这样的活动，都是一个城市充满活力的象征。希望青岛国际当代艺术展能够持续举办下去，成为青岛城市发展史上一道亮丽的风景线。

我作为青岛人，衷心祝贺第四届青岛国际当代艺术展取得圆满成功。

Preface

The 1st Qingdao International Contemporary Art Exhibition (the Art Exhibition) was held in 2017. After three successful sessions, the 4th edition will be put on this year. This year's show chooses to“look eastwards”, which means oriental artists will represent the majority at the show. That is a wise decision which makes this year's exhibition special, different from other international exhibitions.  

Artists invited to this year's exhibition come from China, Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal, Maldives, the United States, Australia, and other countries and regions. There are 183 artworks by domestic artists and 45 artworks by international artists on display, bringing the totality to 228. The rich and colorful styles of the works reflect the distinctive natural landscapes and social customs of different countries and regions, which makes this year's Art Exhibition extraordinary. The success of this year's exhibition will demonstrate that people's passion for creation is inextinguishable despite the COVID-19, and people's rationality and optimism in the face of crisis is invincible.

A city's dynamism lies with its outstanding figures, renowned enterprises, special festivals, non-replicable natural and human resources, as well as events like Qingdao International Contemporary Art Exhibition. I hope to see continued success of Qingdao International Contemporary Art Exhibition in the future, and expect it to go down in the city's history as a brilliant stroke.

As someone born and bred here, I wish the 4th Qingdao International Contemporary Art Exhibition a great success. I also give my congratulations on the launch of the 1902 Art Museum at Qingdao Textile Valley on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition.（Du Dakai  September 20, 2021）
